One Week To Go

This post is only going to be partially about the Peace Corps. I know, way to start strong!

I'm moving to Ecuador in a week, and I'm going to live there for over two years. For someone who has moved/traveled every three or for months for the past two years, that's kind of nuts.  I'm excited about going, but reading the Facebook group I joined with the rest of the people in my omnibus (cohort) makes me feel like I'm bringing up the rear in the enthusiasm race. Then again, I always feel like that before things begin. Really, though, I think it's mainly because up until a week and a half ago I was focused on the Poland excursion.

I sold my car today. Or rather, reached an agreement that should be completed on Friday. When I got it in 2004 I figured that it would last me into my mid twenties, and lo and behold here I am at 25, selling it for 1/4 of what I purchased it for.  It was a new experience negotiating as a seller before, but being that I need this thing gone in the next five days and only one person responded to my Craigslist post, I figured taking what I could get was the best course of action.  I'm not going to get all emo about this, but I'll just say that it's not lost on me that my car has been been possibly the most dependable constant in my life outside of my parents. At least it seems like it's going to a good home. Now I just need to decide what new laptop to spend the money on.

Outside of that, I think I've bought everything major that I need. I just bought a bunch of stuff from Keen because they make size 17 shoes and give PC volunteers a big discount. I do still have to decide what to bring as gifts for my host family of the first three months, and what sort of mementos of home to pack.

Alright, time to stare longingly at computers and enjoy the last two days with my car.
